| Darren Gilbert, Yondan
Dojo Sensei
Sensei Darren Gilbert has nearly 30 years of martial arts training with the last 23 years focused on Isshin-ryu Karate-do. Over the last 12 years, his personal area of focus has become the study of classical karate-do.
As an practitioner, Darren's personal training focus is primarily on mastery of the basics, understanding kata, and developing effective karate technique through proper makiwara training.
As an instructor, Sensei Gilbert's focus is on preserving and teaching a classical karate system while instilling a real "karate-do" mentality in his students. This is in line with his belief that true karate is not something you do ... it is something you live.
